Configuring the DSView software to dial in to a console server

Once the console sever has been added to the DSView software, an administrator can configure dial-in for the DSView software and then push the configuration to the console server.

To push dial-in configuration to the console server: 

1.      From the System page in the DSView software, click DSView Modem Sessions.
a.      Under the Session Timeouts heading, set the session time-out.
b.       Under the Dial-up Settings heading, set the IP address range to be used by the PPP connections.
c.       Under the Dial-back Settings heading, set the analog phone number if you want the console server to dial back to the DSView software.
2.      From the Units View page in the DSView software, drill down to your console server.
3.      In the side navigation bar, click DSView Settings-Dial-up.
a.      Under Modem Type, select the radio button next to Analog.
b.       In the Appliance Phone Number field, enter the phone number to be used for the console server.
c.       In the PPP User field, enter the PPP user and use the drop-down box to select the PPP Auth Protocol. Check the Enable dial-back box if you want the console server to dial back to the DSView software.
d.       Click the Save button.
4.      In the side navigation bar, click DSView Settings-PPP Password. Enter the PPP Password and confirm in the appropriate fields, then click the Save button.
5.      In the side navigation bar, click DSView Settings-IP Addresses. Click the Generate Automatically button to generate the IP addresses, then click the Save button.

In the PPP Local IP Address field, enter the console server's IP address, then click the Save button.

6.      (Required only for OTP call) In the side navigation bar, click DSView Settings-OTP. Check the box to enable the One Time Password (OTP) and enter the OTP user in the OTP User field, then click the Save button.
7.      (Required only for OTP call) If OTP is enabled, in the side navigation bar, click DSView Settings-OTP Passphrase and enter and confirm the OTP passphrase in the appropriate fields, then click the Save button.
8.      In the side navigation bar, click Ports-Serial Ports.
a.      Check the box(es) next to the port(s) for which you want to use dial-in.
b.       Click the Set Dial-in button.
c.       Under the Status heading, use the drop-down box to enable the port and click the Save button.

In the side navigation bar, click Ports-Auxiliary Ports. Under the Status heading, use the drop-down box to enable the port and click the Save button.

In the side navigation bar, click Pluggable Devices. Confirm there is a modem card inserted, use the drop-down box to enable the port and click the Save button.

9.      In the side navigation bar, click DSView Settings. Click the Enable Dial-Up button to enable the dial-in feature in the DSView software.
10.      Click the Push Configuration button and use the drop-down box to select the modem to be configured, then click Next.
11.      The DSView software dial-in configuration will be pushed to the console server. Click Finish to exit.
